Either they go back on their word at some point or they will work on the old PS4 but run at 10 FPS or something like what they pulled with the 3DS

The question is how well and which version will be optimised.

I’m confused. You think Sony is going to go back on their statement that all PS4 games will work on the old PS4?

It’s not really segregating the playerbase. All games work on the original system.

From what i’ve heard, the PS4 slim is replacing the standard PS4. Starting next week, the ps4 slim will be the “new standard PS4” and PS4 Pro will release about two months later.

I feel Sony was inspired by the N3DS business model for the Pro. I definitely think that this will introduce confusion at retail.

Ah, I see what you meant. Yeah, I agree. I don’t think that many of the existing users will double dip.

I know but asking present owners of PS4s to pay an additional $400 is a tad much. Since it’s an upgrade i’d prefer to pay an upgrade price. New purchasers of the Pro should pay the full price.

Casual gamers or people that don’t know much about games (like parents buying for their children) may gravitate towards the lower priced model.

There are now 3 models on the market – all this will do is confuse non-hardcore gamers imo. The whole point of a console is for simplicity and convenience. I wonder if this will turn into another New 3DS situation.

There is no way it could’ve been 100$.

Agreed. Maybe if it was $100 it wouldn’t be such an issue but fragmenting the userbase def a bad move.

That depends. If the Pro doesn’t pick developers may want to focus on the already established 40 million user base.

WIth a price difference of only a 100 bucks most people without a PS4 will go straight for the “pro”.
Calling it now: Support for the PS4 “Old” wont last long.
