World’s largest wind farm is now fully operational

Walney Wind Farm, claimed to be the world's largest operational offshore wind farm with 102 turbines, is now in full working order, it was announced today by SSE, one of the companies behind the development.

An Offshore Wind Programme Board (OWPB) consisting of a small number of senior representatives of industry, Government and Statutory Nature Conservation Advisors is to be established by autumn this year to help drive down production costs for the sector.

South East Water says restrictions stay for now

While water companies Southern, Thames and Anglian have lifted their water restrictions South East Water (SEW) has stressed it is keeping temporary use bans in place, as it continues to carefully monitor water levels. SEW said recent rainfall has boosted river and reservoir levels but "has had little impact" on the region's groundwater sources, many of which remain at severe levels.

DCWW plans £1B infrastructure spending spree

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW) will spend £1B over the next three years on infrastructure projects across Wales, Herefordshire and Deeside. The programme includes £100M of additional investment in projects that were not originally earmarked for the current AMP5 regulatory investment cycle.
