So much so that risk assessments are now integral to many organisations at the strategic level for the prioritisation of environmental issues, at the programme level for asset and project management, and at the project level for environmental planning and permitting. As a result, most career paths in environmental science and engineering, whether in consultancy, regulation or the industrial sectors, now require practitioners to have a fundamental understanding of environmental risk management and its applications.
