Poland provides a wealth of opportunity for UK environmental business

There is considerable opportunity in Poland for UK environmental businesses, but companies are warned that firms from other countries, particularly Germany, have already been in the country for five years, which means that the UK is behind in the market.

Low carbon economy – reality of dream?

The Carbon Trust, a new independent company initially funded by the DETR and the Devolved Administrations as part of the UK’s Climate Change Programme, today announced an integrated programme of measures designed to accelerate the take-up of low carbon technologies throughout Britain. The Trust will consist of a non-executive board plus a number of advisory committees.

The UK recycles the least container glass and steel packaging in Europe and is near the bottom on aluminium cans, according to a new study by the European Commission.

New training tool will increase understanding and sympathy for environmentally sustainable product design

Ecodesign is a new concept in product development that accounts for the whole lifecycle of a product, from raw material extraction and processing through to the end of the life of the product, rather than the traditional concerns of product production and use. With this concept in mind, environmental communication company, Shot in the Dark, has developed a training guide intended to aid design teams in their understanding of both the concept of increasing productivity whilst reducing environmental impact, and the need for it.
