#SustyTalk is all about keeping edie’s loyal readers connected to sustainable business leaders across the world, whilst reminding us all that sustainability and climate action must go on through the current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond. It launched in the early stages of the pandemic in 2020 and has continued since then, keeping us connected to the inspirational business leaders who are continuing to drive sustainability and climate action.
Now, #SustyTalk is evolving from a video format to an audio-only format. This episode sees edie’s senior reporter Sarah George in discussion with SVZ’s sustainability manager Inge van Disseldorp. This episode has been recorded to coincide with the agriculture-themed day on the COP27 agenda, and as part of edie’s month-long Net-Zero November editorial campaign.
After a round of introductions, Inge speaks with Sarah about SVZ’s efforts to engage fruit and vegetable suppliers to reduce waste, improve climate impact and boost grower wellbeing. One key step it has taken has been running workshops with NGO Emerging Leaders, to deliver soft skills to farmers, growers and pickers this summer.
She also gives her thoughts on the COP27 Presidency being the first in the history of the UN climate conference to dedicate time in the agenda specifically to agriculture, and argues for joined-up thinking on climate justice, food security and sustainable agriculture.
