Bioplastics
DEFINITION: Bioplastics are biodegradable or compostable materials that come from renewable sources such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch or microbiota. Production of such plastics tends to require less fossil fuels and to produce less greenhouse gases (GHG) than the production of fossil-fuel based polymers. Not all bioplastics are biodegrade nor biodegrade more readily than commodity fossil-fuel derived plastics.
