Deposit return scheme

DEFINITION: A recycling system in which consumers pay a small deposit for plastic and glass bottles, which can be refunded upon return to a shop. Such schemes are underway in Scandinavian countries such as Denmark and Norway, where recycling rates of containers are now above 90%.
