Duty of care

DEFINITION: All businesses have a legal responsibility to ensure they produce, store, transport and
dispose of waste without harming the environment. Businesses have a duty of care for their waste from when it is produced until it has been received by a business that is authorised to deal with it. Businesses also have a responsibility to take all reasonable steps to ensure the waste is managed correctly through to disposal or recovery even once transferred.
