Ground-source heat pump

DEFINITION: A ground-source heat pump is a system that extracts natural heat from the ground using pipes which are buried under the surface. It concentrates heat by using a vapour compression cycle, and transfers heat into buildings to provide heating and hot water without burning fossil fuels.
