Commenting on the edie 23 launch, edie’s content director Luke Nicholls said: “The converging crises of Covid, climate and conflict are devastating the world and costing a fortune. Time is running out to avoid catastrophic climate breakdown – our industries and governments around the world must be bold and take decisive, large-scale action.
“edie 23 is about making that action happen, at scale and at pace. At a time when businesses are under immense pressure to demonstrate leadership through crisis, our evolved and scaled-up event will cut through the noise, spark new ideas, and foster the collaborative actions required to achieve a sustainable future.”
Speakers and stages
edie 23 will take place at the state-of-the-art 133 Houndsditch conference venue in central London. Held over two floors, the event will offer up two full days of keynotes, panels, best-practice case studies and audience-led discussions across three themed stages – Strategy, Net-Zero and Action.
Speakers confirmed so far include revered Kenyan climate activist Elizabeth Wathuti, Climate Change Committee Chair Lord Deben, Leon Restaurants co-founder Henry Dimbleby, Pukka Herbs’ chief executive Anuradha Chugh, Holcim’s chief financial officer Géraldine Picaud, INGKA Group’s deputy chief executive and chief financial officer Juvencio Maeztu, Unilever’s chief sustainability officer Rebecca Marmot, and climate justice activist Mikaela Loach.

Mission Statement and features
This content will be delivered alongside an array of interactive and immersive event features and benefits, including a dedicated event app, an informal “mess up night” to discuss some of the times that sustainability initiatives didn’t go to plan, a series of “#SustyTalk Live” sideline sofa discussions, and a “25th Birthday Party” to celebrate edie’s 25th anniversary as the industry-leading sustainable business media brand.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to solve business-critical sustainability challenges with peers in a choice of eight co-creative workshops, and take part in more than six hours of open networking – including a brand-new Speed Networking Lounge.
As edie looks to deliver an evolution of the long-running Sustainability Leaders Forum which drives tangible social and environmental change, the brand has also developed and publicised a brand-new edie 23 Mission Statement. The Mission Statement includes an industry-leading commitment to speaker diversity and inclusivity, a strict no-greenwashing policy, and a laser-like focus on sparking new ideas and trackable actions through the event content.
Who attends
With the concept of sustainability continuing to evolve beyond a single job function, edie 23 has been designed to appeal to a much wider set of professionals working across the green economy.
As such, more than 600 business leaders, board-level executives, sustainability, ESG and net-zero decision-makers, finance, communications and procurement experts, NGOs, academia, consultants, tech providers, entrepreneurs and more are expected to attend the event next March.
